Yesterday, the Red Sox recalled former Spinners right-handed pitcher Abe Alvarez from Pawtucket. Alvarez had pitched well in Triple-A, with a 2.18 ERA and a 5-0 record in seven starts.
Abe joins current Red Sox Jonathan Papelbon and Cubs outfielder Matt Murton as 2003 Spinners on Major League rosters.
UPDATE: Alvarez has entered the game in relief of pitcher Lenny DiNardo in the third inning.

If you made it out to LeLacheur Park last season, there's a good chance you saw reliever Brian Marshall work his way toward a 2.35 ERA. But how many people knew he had a twin brother pitching in the Cubs organization?
Twin brother Sean broke Spring Training in the Cubs rotation and has since cemented himself as one of their best. He's currently leading the team with a 3.12 ERA after six starts. Keep your eyes peeled for Sean in Chicago and check out marshallfans.com for info on both brothers.
