Spinners outfielder Wilfred Pichardo played in just one game at LeLacheur Park before injuring himself in the Spinners Stedler Division clinching win. However, Pichardo showed in his two at-bats his incredible blazing speed, turing routine groundballs into bang-bang plays at first base. In the GCL this season, Pichardo led the GCL Red Sox with 60 hits and 42 stolen bases, setting a new league record for stolen bases. In three games with the Spinners, the 18-year-old Pichardo was 2-for-7 with a stolen base.
Pichardo does not look like your typical player, standing 5′9″ and weighing 146 pounds. Despite his diminutive stature, Pichardo is a very talented prospect. Congratulations, Wilfred.
