The publication just named the Boston Red Sox draft as the best in the league in 2006. According to an article on redsox.com,
“One year after rating the team’s 2005 draft as the second-best in the game, Baseball America on Tuesday declared Boston’s 2006 First-Year Player Draft as tops among the 30 Major League teams. The 2006 Draft Report Cards are included in the latest issue of Baseball America.”
The article continues, citing Spinners ’06 reliever Joshua Papelbon as “one of the top five second-day picks” in the 2006 Draft. Papelbon was a steal for the Red Sox. He was fifth in the league in saves and finished the season with an ERA under 2.00. He was one of Lowell’s best pitchers.
