The California League All-Stars defeated the Carolina League All-Stars 10-5 in the Carolina-California All-Star game and 2006 Spinner Bubba Bell won the California League All-Star MVP award.
Bell started in center field and was 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored in the victory.
Bell, a 42nd-round selection from Nicholls State University by the Red Sox in the 2005 draft, hit .429 in 23 games for Lowell last year. This year with Lancaster, the Red Sox High-A Cal League affiliate, Bell is hitting .371 with 22 homers, 83 RBIs, and 10 steals through 73 games.
Bell, along with former Spinners stars Justin Masterson and Zach Daeges, led Lancaster to a tie for the first-half title with a 39-31 record. The JetHawks have continued their winning ways by starting the second half 9-1.
