Spinners Take 4-3 Loss vs Tigers on Cancer Awareness Night

On Cancer Awareness Night sponsored by Lahey Health and Taylor Swift Night, the Spinners took a loss against the Tigers, despite fighting until the end.

Prior to the game, in honor of Cancer Awareness night sponsored by Lahey Health, fans, players, and staff members wrote on signs whom they were standing up to cancer for. Everyone stood for a moment of silence holding the signs up. It was a touching moment visualizing the immense impact cancer has on everyone. Players also wore jerseys in honor of the night that were auctioned off with the proceeds going towards cancer research.

The Spinners took a tough loss against the Tigers, battling until the very end. In the 3-4 loss, there were a few offensive standouts. Andrew Benintendi had two hits including a triple and a RBI in the Spinners’ 3-4 loss against Connecticut. Mitch Gunsolus also had two hits in the game. Isaias Lucena made his Spinners debut, going 2 for 4 with two singles and an RBI.

The Spinners were down by 2 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, where they were able to cut the Tigers lead down to one run. Despite the valiant effort, it wouldn’t be enough to defeat the Tigers.

In honor of Taylor Swift Night, there was and on field event, Dizzy Derby, held to the Taylor Swift song White Horses. Two fans spun around until they were very dizzy and had to ride horses to the finish line. With a lot of stumbling around, there was one winner.

Another on field event made its season debut, Junk in the Trunk. Set to the tune of Shake it Off by Taylor Swift, two fans had to tie boxes around them and attempt to shake Ping-Pong balls out. Both did a great job and the winner went home with a great prize.

The next game at LeLacheur Park takes place on Tuesday, July 21st at 7:05PM against Tri-City. Join us as we hold Social Media Night, featuring the Fan Vote Bobble Head Giveaway of a Mookie Betts bobble head.
